Set in fictional Camp Str8-N-Arrow*, EX-GAYS: NOT A STR8 REMOUNT follows Pastor Brian and the rest of the camp staff as they help campers turn off their homosexual feelings and turn on their love of the heterosexual life. Through the lens of satire, Savage Umbrella takes a humorous and thoughtful look at the devastating effects of homophobia and religious zealotry.

*Special Note: Camp Str8-N-Arrow is camp in the way that Richard Simmons is camp.

CONTENT WARNING: EX-GAYS: NOT A STR8 REMOUNT is satire. While Camp Str8-N-Arrow is not real, many of the themes discussed during the show are very real. And very harmful. These themes include homophobia, transphobia, sexism, religious zealotry. The production also contains frank sexual language. Also, cake. Recommended for audiences 16+.

Here's what folks said about the original 2011 production:

The show was wonderful. Hilarious, campy, silly, full of improv and scripted moments, but also packed a punch, revealing the devastating emotional consequences of this kind of thinking and the damage it can do to people who are duped by misguided religious zealotry. It's a solid, well-produced and executed piece of sociopolitical art. I absolutely recommend it. - Adam Whisner, MN Playlist

Ex-Gays is a well-constructed, adroitly paced evening of theater. [...] its a conversationin both comedy and dramathat well all be better off continuing to have. Highly recommended. - Matthew Everett, TC Daily Planet

I can absolutely guarantee that if you see this show, when you go home, you are going to want to frost a cake. - Lawrance Bernabo, Duluth News Tribune
